According to the Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren (S), it is feared that Sweden is the same way of meeting as other countries in Europe, where the spread of the infection is increasing dramatically.
Part of the problem is young people who feel “immortal.”
– If the spread of the infection is going to decrease, those who move around a lot in society should think about it, he tells SVT.
In recent weeks, it has been possible to see a further spread of the coronavirus. Partly in Europe, but also in various holes in Sweden. The number of patients needing care is increasing and on Friday it was announced that the Academic Hospital’s intensive care unit was full.
In SVT’s “Weekend Studio”, Social Affairs Minister Lena Hallengren says that now there are fears that Sweden is headed in a direction where the infection is increasing again.
– We fear that we are going in one direction, like other countries in Europe, with a greater spread of the infection that also affects intensive care and care in general, explains Hallengren to SVT.

“We really have to take new steps”
Earlier this week, the government announced that people over 70 and in other risk groups must follow the same guidelines and restrictions as everyone else.
Hallengren says it is unreasonable for people in the risk group or older than 70 to be treated as a large group. Without it being a matter of everyone having individual consideration. He also sees that the new decision sends an important message to the youngest.
– It is important that we who are 20 years old or older realize that we really must take new steps and make sure we have the strength to follow the recommendations that will apply for a long time, Hallengren told SVT on Saturday.
He also says that people who move around a lot in society should think and think about how they can help prevent the spread of infection from increasing.
– It is not right for us to decide on stricter restrictions in certain areas that people in risk groups should experience are very limited, while groups that feel immortal and that restrictions do not cover as much. But they do, says the Minister of Social Affairs in SVT’s “Weekend Studio”.
