The crown-insured wedding took place last Saturday in the Renaissance garden of Hotell Kivik in Skåne.
EU politician and former Gothenburg city councilor David Lega, 47, and Vega Ranstam, 37, who are businessmen and interpreters of sign language and deafblindness, said yes.
Ranelid made a speech for more than ten minutes.
The author of the wedding was the colorful author and artist of words Björn Ranelid.
– We have met in different contexts and when I asked Björn if she wanted to marry us, she said yes immediately. He gave a fantastic speech in just over ten minutes, it was so large that I am glad to have it on film and to be able to see it again …
A KD politician who marries bourgeois, didn’t you see it coming …?
– Oh, it’s not that strange, none of us are in the Church of Sweden and I’m not a believer, so a civil marriage was natural, he says.
Known on Instagram
The couple got in touch about a year and a half ago, on Instagram.
– I discovered that she followed me and thought she was charismatic and very sweet. So I commented on something she wrote and she replied. So we started writing, calling and meeting. I knew immediately that she was the one I was always looking for.
That’s right and at the end of October the couple is expecting a child, a girl if the doctors have seen well.
– Everything that happens now is huge and correct. In fact, it feels like they’re meant for each other, he says.
“She is wise, I am childish”
Ten years separate them, but it’s not something they don’t even think about.
– She is wise and mature and I am childish, so she is equal, says David Lega.
David Lega was born with a disability, which means he was paralyzed in both arms and lacked muscles in both legs. He just doesn’t know anything else and has always fought where he wants to go: 14 swimming world records and a high-level political career speaks his language clearly. But in everyday life you need help.
– I’ve always done it so it’s not strange – but love strengthens everything and I’m a very happy man. Vega and I have amazing fun together, laugh a lot, inspire and develop each other.
During the crown spring, David Lega has mostly handled the task as an EU MP at home, from his apartment in Gothenburg.
“It feels like we were together a long time.”
– No evil that has nothing good. It has allowed us to spend more time together and get to know each other even more. Maybe that’s why it seems we’ve been together longer than we’ve actually been, he thinks.
Vega Ranstam Lega has left Ystad where she lived when they met and became Gothenburgers.
– Because he has humor, the transition has been good and painless, he says with a laugh.
It is not entirely clear how he fares himself with the name after marriage.
– After all the years, Lega is so established that it takes years before I keep it. But probably put an R between the first and last name, she says.
