Her company, Amazon, is secretly mapping the climate movement and flagging Greta Thunberg’s “Fridays for the Future” as a threat to business.

E-commerce giant Amazon is one of the largest companies in the world. It is owned by the richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, and he launched his Swedish site in October.
In addition to making Amazon climate neutral by 2040, Jeff Bezos has pledged to donate $ 10 billion to work on climate change.
But the question is whether Amazon lives up to green ideals.

Vice magazine’s tech site Motherboard has found a score of internal documents from the e-commerce giant. The leaked documents were prepared by analysts at the company’s global security center in 2019 and are said to point to potential threats to Amazon’s operations.
“Obsessed” surveillance
According to Motherboard, Amazon has become “obsessed” with monitoring various environmental groups and social movements through social media such as Facebook and Instagram.
Monitored movements include Greta Thunberg’s Greenpeace, Extinction Rebellion and Fridays for future.
The purpose of the monitoring should have been “to point out the risks and dangers that can affect Amazon’s operations, in order to meet customer expectations,” according to Motherboard.
According to Reuters, Amazon ships 10 billion packages each year and has been accused of contributing to overconsumption. Last year, environmental activists organized blockades against the Amazon in France in connection with the Black Friday shopping day.

According to Motherboard, the documents also show that Amazon enlisted the help of the American detective agency Pinkerton, owned by the Swedish security group Securitas, to monitor the company’s employees.
Over the years, Amazon has come under fire for both its harsh working conditions and its anti-union leadership. In October, 37 MEPs, including the Swede Johan Danielsson (S), demanded in an open letter responses to reports that the company was spying on trade unionists.
Confirm the detectives
Amazon’s German press office writes in an email to Aftonbladet that the company works to maintain the safety of employees, buildings and equipment and that this includes internal investigation teams that work with judicial authorities when necessary and that comply with local laws:
“Any attempt to give a sense of these activities or to imply that we are doing something unusual or wrong is irresponsible and wrong.”
Securitas’ press department writes in an email to Aftonbladet that the company does not want to comment on Pinkerton’s involvement because it is contrary to “the confidentiality agreements we have with our clients.”
