In the last month, more than 100,000 people in Latin America and the Caribbean have died after being infected by the coronavirus, and the death toll on the continent now stands at more than 700,000, according to a census carried out by AFP based on official sources. .
The region, which includes 34 countries and territories in South and Central America, including Mexico, was previously the most affected continent in terms of absolute death toll. In Latin America, Brazil and Mexico account for two-thirds of the deaths related to covid-19 in the region.
