– If they have such notions about life and people, it is very difficult to influence them, says Lars Lerin.

When Lars LerinThe 66-year-old lights the candle on Christmas Eve, it will be the first time that an openly gay person has been named a Christmas host at SVT. And Lars Lerin also takes the opportunity to invite her real husband Manoel “Junior” Marques Lerin, 43, to the broadcast so he can celebrate a true rainbow Christmas on TV.

– It’s something that also goes with speed. It’s good that everyone can be seen, says Lars Lerin.

The artist and author Lerin, who has become popular thanks to television series such as “Please Lars Lerin” and “Lerin’s Apprentices”, hopes to function as a company for all who celebrate Christmas alone.

“We are harmless”

Aftonbladet readers praise Lars Lerin as a Christmas host and when more than 225,000 answered the question, 72 percent think he is a good choice for SVT.

If someone reacted to the fact that you are a rainbow family celebrating Christmas on television, what would you say to them?

– Yeah, we can’t really do anything about it. If they have such notions about life and people, it is very difficult to influence them, he says.

– But Junior and I rarely get such a good comment from anywhere about our disposition. We are probably so harmless that people don’t care I think.

Junior: “Safe in my life”

For Junior, it is important that everyone accepts each other for who they are.

– You only live once and then you should be able to choose your own path. I have confidence in my life and in myself and I don’t care what other people think. I do not take their opinions into account. Because sometimes you criticize others for not feeling good about yourself. We have to help them in some way to understand, we must try to give them joy, he says.
