Almost all Swedish regions, 19 out of 21, have a shortage of biomedical analysts, who analyze covid-19 tests.
Even before the corona pandemic occurred, regions reported having too few biomedical analysts, and according to the Swedish Health Association, the shortage is a bottleneck that makes it difficult for regions to keep up with all samples during fall.
– We didn’t even have time to register the samples. The whole fridge was full of samples. It quickly turned into an escalating situation that we couldn’t handle, Tina Dahlman, Dalarna’s chief security representative, tells radio.
