The moderates want to renew their ideas, and the results are presented today.

In a speech, moderate leader Ulf Kristersson emphasized that segregation and crime can be stopped by drastically reducing immigration.

The task was to renew the “ideological base” of the moderates. And now, after a year and a half, a proposal for an ideas program will be submitted.

In a speech before the ideas show was presented, the party’s leader, Ulf Kristersson, focused on, among other things, crime and integration.

– For most people, it is quite obvious that Sweden faces really serious problems. That development is going in the wrong direction, Kristersson said.

– If we want to seriously break segregation and stop crime, we must greatly reduce immigration, he added.

Want to cooperate

The ideas program develops what the moderates want with the integration policy in the future. “The public responsibility is to follow a policy that promotes integration, but also in the awareness that integration is not a two-way process,” the statement read.

– There has been a misconception that we should adapt the way Sweden works, our traditions and values, in relation to immigration. Those who come to Sweden shouldn’t have to give up their culture, but they should adapt in order to function in society, says Christofer Fjellner, who led the work with the ideas program.

TT: Wouldn’t the word assimilation be better than integration to describe it?

– We do not believe that any of the concepts describe very well what we want to achieve. That is why we use the term functional adaptation.

“The core of wellness”

Another part is on welfare, where moderates advocate a “strong but limited” state.

– At the same time, our image is that the public sector has demanded more and more and at the same time has weakened. Well-being has gotten older but slimmer, says Christofer Fjellner.

The phrase “the core of wellness” is repeated several times in the 63-page program.

– It is revealing that we presented it a few days after the government sent the family week proposal for consultation. There is a notion that we must constantly expand wellness. But that’s one reason the queues for cancer care are growing, says Christofer Fjellner.

Final proposal 2021

The party secretary, Gunnar Strömmer, will now receive the proposal for a program of ideas and then it will be sent to a round of consultations with county associations and other moderate organizations. The meeting of moderates will then take a position on a final proposal in November 2021.

Work with the ideas program has been led by former EU MP Christofer Fjellner, along with, among others, Muf President Benjamin Dousa, lead writer Alice Teodorescu and Mats Svegfors, former CEO of Swedish radio .
