Kopparbergs / Gothenburg appears to be safe.

New sponsors have stepped in and coach Mats Gren has informed the players that “everything will work out,” says Expressen.

– No comment, says attorney Carl Fhager.

On Tuesday, Football Sweden was shocked with the news that Damallsvenskan champions Kopparbergs / Göteborg will shut down elite operations. The decision was taken by the board and it came like a bolt from nowhere for the players, several of them stars of the national team.

– Everyone is shocked and sad, Elin Rubensson told Sportbladet.

Ö retired

On Wednesday Örgryte IS, whose women’s team just won the fourth division, began discussing a possible takeover of the club. But during an extraordinary meeting, ÖIS representatives concluded that it will not happen.

“Unfortunately, as there is a shortage of time, it is not possible to investigate the problem fully. In addition to a thorough investigation, the issue must also be discussed at an annual meeting and the members have the right to make decisions. At present, there is unfortunately no nothing we can do to ensure that Gothenburg as a city has a representative who will play Allsvenskan football in Gothenburg in 2021 ”.they wrote in a statement.

Saved by new backers

Instead, it now appears that Kopparbergs / Göteborg will be saved. Expressen says that several new backers have decided to come to the rescue.

The newspaper claims that the players and leaders are summoned to a meeting with President Peter Bronsman tomorrow (Thursday) at 10:00 am, where more information is expected to be provided.

Coach Mats Gren must also, according to Expressen, have sent a mass text message to the players and wrote that “everything will be fine.”

Sportbladet has searched several players and board members, to no avail. The club’s press manager, Tore Lund, says he has no comment.

Neither does Carl Fhager, a lawyer for the MAQS law firm that helps the club and agent for several of the team’s players.

– No, at the moment I do not give comments to the media but now there is a total focus on work, he says.
