Kommunal warns about strike by health workers

If the parties do not reach an agreement by January 15, Kommunal will block new jobs, as well as overtime and overtime at private health and care companies across the country. These include the occupational groups of nurse aides, care assistants, cooks, and food staff.

Subsequently, on January 22, the union will close works on a large number of residences and health centers run by companies.

– A strike is always the last resort and absolutely nothing that Kommunal does lightly. But it is impossible for us to accept a deal in which Kommunal members accept the deteriorating conditions for a special wage investment in people with vocational training, says Tobias Baudin, president of the Kommunal union in a press release.

Kommunal wants the deal with Vårdföretagarna it must be worth as much as the agreement that the association has with the municipalities and regions of Sweden (SKR). The central theme of the negotiations is the financing of an additional investment in people with professional training that Kommunal has proposed.

Almega Vårdföretagarna regrets that Kommunal has decided to give notice of a strike.

– We think we had a good dialogue in the negotiating room and would have liked to continue to reach a solution, says Per Östlund, Vårdföretagarna’s head of negotiations, in a press release.
