King Harald has undergone a new heart operation.

Now clap again as you should.

– He will be hospitalized for the weekend, his doctor for life Bjørn Bendz tells VG.

Just a couple of weeks ago, King Harald V of Norway was admitted to the Rikshospitalet in Oslo. The reason was that he was breathing heavily. The 83-year-old king was then removed from all official assignments due to illness.

An investigation into the king’s health problems was launched, but the Norwegian royal family quickly announced that it was not covid-19.

On Thursday, King Harald was readmitted to Rikshospitalet and on Friday the heart valve that had been implanted in 2005 was replaced. The operation, which lasted half an hour, was performed by surgery on the groin under local anesthesia.

According to the Norwegian Royal Family, the operation went well and King Harald is resting in the intensive care unit for observation.

– The king is in a good mood and is joking and joking. The king had a lot of fun, as he usually does. He is our good king, says Bjørn Bendz.

The doctor also confirms that the decision about the surgery was made “a few days ago.” The king will stay in the hospital for the weekend, but then he will have to leave his hospital bed.

– If you don’t get out of bed, I’ll kick you out. That’s what he’s into, the doctor jokes.

King Harald will be on sick leave for the remainder of October. On the king’s sick leave, Crown Prince Haakon has taken over his duties.

Note: An artificial heart valve normally has a lifespan of between 10 and 15 years.
