This weekend, a giant military parade was held in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang. At the same time, Kim Jong-Un took the opportunity to give an unusually emotional speech.

The dictator took off his glasses and wiped some tears from his eyes.

“My efforts and honesty have not been enough to free our people from the difficulties of their lives,” he said, according to The Guardian.

Kim Jong-Un apologizes

On Saturday, North Korea celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Labor Party and the military parade showed, among other things, a giant missile that was propelled forward in a military vehicle.

A large part of the speech was still used to show sympathy for the Korean people. Analysts interpret Kim Jong-Un’s unusual attitude as feeling pressure from the crown pandemic and sanctions against the country.

North Korea’s trade with China has dropped dramatically since the borders were closed, but the country claims it does not have a single case of the virus. Furthermore, international sanctions as a result of the development of nuclear weapons have weighed on the economy.
