“It is crucial that the crown prince, who ordered the brutal murder of an impeccable and innocent person, is punished without delay,” Khashoggi’s Turkish fiancee Hatice Cengiz wrote on Twitter.

“Who planned it? Who ordered it? Where is the body? These are the most important questions, and they remain unanswered,” Cengiz commented at the time.
Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the UN, Abdallah al-Mouallimi, wrote on Twitter that the United States had not presented any concrete evidence that the Crown Prince was involved in the assassination.
“The prince has courageously accepted moral responsibility, presented the culprits to the judiciary and promised to reform the intelligence services. The case is over!” Writes al-Mouallimi.
Jamal Khashoggi was an outspoken critic of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman. He fled the country in September 2017 after the prince was appointed heir to the throne.
Khashoggi criticized, among other things, Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the war in Yemen, saying that a culture of fear prevails in Saudi Arabia after the mass arrests of human rights activists and dissent.
Khashoggi went to the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018 to obtain documents so that he could get married. It did not come to life from there.
Saudi officials initially claimed that Khashoggi had left the consulate after carrying out his case. Only 17 days after the disappearance, the regime admitted that the journalist had been murdered. The explanation then given was that he died in connection with a fight that had gone off the rails. Later, the regime changed its mind and said that the killers had planned the act.
Since then, some 20 Saudis have been brought to justice, but all ties to the future king of the country have been dismissed.
