Karolinska withdraws notification of care employees

[ad_1]

At the end of last year, Karolinska announced 600 positions, of which 350 were nursing assistants and 250 were doctors. Subsequently, the figures were written down to apply only to 266 employees. But now that 30 administrative positions will disappear in September, the notice will be withdrawn entirely.

– This warning has taken a long time to resolve because we ended up in a pandemic. Now that we have looked at our figures that we have today and in the coming months, we see that we do not need to give notice. We manage this with natural outlets, says Björn Zoëga, hospital director at SVT Karolinska University Hospital.

Fewer employees despite not receiving notification

Despite the fact that notice is now missing, Karolinska’s staff will be reduced from 15,900 to 15,000 during the year, due to natural departures and no new hires.

During the corona pandemic, Karolinska has hired more rental staff. However, the hospital director points out that these hired personnel are not the same type of care personnel who were threatened with warning.

– Work is now continuing to shorten service queues and reduce care that has been postponed due to work with covid-19.

Looking in the rear view mirror, could I have done something different?

– No, we have discussed it a lot but I don’t see that we could have done otherwise.

The Swedish Medical Association: Skills have been lost

Karolinska Medical Association President Yvonne Dellmark is positive about the message but believes it should have come much earlier.

– It is very good that they have finally withdrawn the notification. But we see that it has happened very negatively during the year. Even before the pandemic, many worked hard. When the warning came, it was a negative sign. Now they have lost skills, she says.
