The next woman to announce her candidacy to become the next Green Party spokesperson following the resignation of Isabella Lövin is Karolina Skog. She believes that her long experience in various roles within the party is to her advantage.
Karolina Skogs climbing Within the party, he began in local departments, as a spokesman for the Green students and for several years in municipal politics. In 2016, she became Minister of the Environment and since 2019 is the party’s economic-political spokesperson.
– We will have a better story about our environmental policy and show the connection between the time we ban tapas and the big green credit guarantors. Voters should never doubt that the environment is our top goal, but they should also know that we have answers to questions like health and safety.
Why don’t you think MP would feel better just focusing on the climate and the environment?
– Even voters who prioritize the weather want to feel that wellness and health care is working. That is why it is important that we instill security and confidence in these matters as well.
The lack of clear leadership is another reason for the party’s difficult public opinion situation, he believes. If Karolina Skog becomes a spokesperson, she wants to change that.
– We have a party culture that is skeptical of leadership. I perceive that it inhibits us. At the same time, I believe in involving leadership, but that we have a skepticism about the concept of leadership and I think it leaks out to the voters, he says.
So is today’s Green Party the opposite of top-down?
– Yes, but it is not necessarily top management that we need. We need a more structured organization and a clearer mandate for those who run the party.
– But I’m not Annie Lööf, who needs to be in every detail, adds Karolina Skog.
You wrote during the morning of Twitter you want to make MP arrogant again. What is arrogant about you?
– That we defend the distinctive character of the Green Party. Don’t run with the same balls as everyone else. We are not like everyone else and we really should stand up for it.
There is speculation about whether the party should really be part of the government. But Karolina Skog is safe. She wants the Social Democrats and the Green Party to continue co-ruling even after the elections.
– Of course, we must fight for power to implement our policy. But we have a difficult parliamentary situation and that will be the case after the next elections. I will work for the fact that there are parties in the government that are characterized by decency.
Will it be relevant to leave the government due, for example, to immigration policy if you become a spokesperson?
– My hope is that we stick together and I hope Stefan Löfven wants that too. He has shown a fantastic ability to hold government together and we have dealt with many different problems and crises together. I hope you do what you have to do to keep the government together. But of course we have limits.
The final list of candidates will be presented on Wednesday.
