Musician and television profile Kalle Moraeus has had to change his life during the corona pandemic. Last summer, he only had time to put on one performance of the show “Thanks for the Music,” before the ensemble was forced to cancel. It was the first time since he began his professional career in 1986 that Moraeus did not work in the summer.
During the fall and winter, the jobs for Moraeus did not improve. He understood that he had to change course completely.
– Now we have ended up in a situation that is … my profession does not exist right now, musician and artist. Is closed. I’ve spent my entire adult life walking thinking “what if I lost a finger or got sick and couldn’t play anymore, what should I do?” And so it happens. Therefore, I will be completely deprived of all my livelihood, he says on the talk show “Carina Bergfeldt”.
Not played in six months
On the show, the well-known host says that he now works as a chef, three to four days a week at his event farm in Orsa. Life as a chef is nothing new for the violinist because he has had a great interest in food for a long time.
– I can cook some food that I can make, I love to cook and time just runs out when I work in the kitchen, so I had to be a chef then.
But the music has not become much. On the show, Moraeus says that he hasn’t had a concert since late September.
– Since then, I’ve barely had a ton. I’m leaving. I have no one to play with, I haven’t even gotten to this situation where I can have the discipline to stand up and practice. And the farm takes a long time.
In the program, the artist says that he has not played in more than six months.

“Sharp knives”
Despite the corona pandemic hitting Kultursverige hard, the former host of “This Is How It Should Sound” has kept busy. In an interview with Expressen last summer, Moraeus said he registered with the municipality as a volunteer worker to help groups at risk during the pandemic.
– I help the elderly and other people who should not go shopping, for example.
He also talked about a newly discovered hobby,
– I also found the hobby of such a guy and started sharpening knives. It has become a great interest and I have become a bastard at grinding. Now I have really understood what it is about and it is a bit funny, he said then and continued:
– Soon I have also been sharpening all the neighbors’ knives. Sure, there are polishing jobs. You may have to change industries.
