The goal that was approved, although time has passed.

Big favorite Canada has entered the junior WC and crushed Germany.

The humiliation began with a really controversial goal in the last seconds of the first half.

– There will be discussions. TV viewers and judges cannot have two different watches, says SVT commentator Chris Härenstam.

Last night it was Canada’s turn to enter the JVM and it was an eventful first period against Germany, to say the least. Canada scored three goals in their first five shots against hapless goalkeeper Arno Tiefensee. Meanwhile, Canadian defender Braden Schneider received a match penalty after a tackle to the head of Jan-Luca Schumacher.

An entry that made SVT expert Mikael Renberg react.

– No good tackle. It is clearly aimed at the head. It should be suspended for some games.

Renberg was also not impressed that Schumacher continued the game and was not taken to the locker room for an exam.

– A suspected concussion should also be treated as a concussion. You should go into the locker room for further investigation.

Canada led 3-1 in the final seconds of the first period when Peyton Krebs managed to push the puck into the power play after a penalty from the German team. On the jumbo throne clock spinning in time with the repeats, it was clear that time had passed before the puck passed the line.

The captain of the German team, Tobias Abstreiter, reacts after reviewing the video of the referees.

But the entire Canadian referee team decided to approve the case after reviewing the video. Something that made the captain of the German team, Tobias Abstreiter, react strongly. Team captain Tim Stützle was also questioning. Stützle also thought the expulsion Germany received for too many outfielders on the ice.

The SVT study also questioned the decision to approve the case.

– The clock shown in television pictures is usually correct, it should be doomed, says expert Jonas Andersson.

– This is what we talk about, because then it is the case that the technology is not correct. In that case, the viewers and the judges have different clocks, says Chris Härenstam.

-It can’t be like that, it must be the same watch that applies, says Jonas.

It was speculated that the images from TSN and the IIHF (which the judges continued) were out of sync and that the case should have been dropped.

Due to strict quarantine rules, it has been decided that only Canadian judges can judge at the tournament.

After Canada’s controversial 4-1, the Germans collapsed altogether. Germany arrived the same as in the opening matches with only 14 outfielders due to the fact that several players remained in quarantine. The home nation went from 11-1 in the second period.
