Junior crowns will keep the suite alive against the Czech Republic

Sweden have not lost a single group match at the Ice Hockey Youth World Cup since New Year’s Eve 2006, when they lost to the United States 2-3 after extra time. This means that the junior crowns have a total of 52 consecutive victories in the group stage.

A suite that this year’s team now has a chance to keep alive.

– This suite is great. But it is not something we give any importance to. However, we always aim to win the game, says the captain of the national team, Joel Rönnmark.

But the youth crowns are mainly focused on this year’s tournament.

– This is not something we are thinking about. But you clearly want to win every game, says defender Tobias Björnfot, who is one of three assistant team captains this year. Together with Victor Söderström and Albin Sundsvik, he will assist team captain Philip Broberg.

At 20 on the second day, it is time for the opening match in the championship. Sweden meets the Czech Republic at Westerner Park Centrium. The last time the teams met was in last year’s JVM quarter-finals. Then it was a 5-0 Swedish victory. But many things look different this year. The reloading has been special, after an eight-day quarantine, the team had to start training on ice on Monday. But they quickly started again.

– I think it looks great to be sitting in a hotel room with limited space to move around. He feels good in training, says the captain of the national team Rönnmark.
