He was examined for kidney stones.

It was later discovered that John Daly, 54, had been diagnosed with cancer.

– I’m not afraid of dying, says the golf star.

He has two major titles on his list of merits, but he is at least as well known for his unhealthy and often scandalous life.

For much of his career, the American has struggled with both alcohol dependence and diabetes.

Now he has suffered from urinary tract cancer.

85 percent risk

The horrifying discovery was made when the 54-year-old man went to the hospital believing he had received kidney stones. A first operation was performed to remove the cancer from the body and the operation is described as successful. However, doctors have said that there is an 85 percent risk that the cancer will return.

– I’ll make a new visit in three months. They will probably need to do another operation then. We’ll see what happens, maybe a miracle can happen, he tells Golf Channel.

Daly was drinking a cola when he received the horror message.

Now you need to change your lifestyle.

– I can cut back on soda and start counting minutes between my cigarettes. I am trying to quit smoking. Doctors say it is not too late, Daly says.

“He is not afraid”

When you remember the life you lived, you have no regrets.

– Whatever happens, I’m not afraid of dying. Sure, it would have been nice if you had lived a healthier life for the past seven, eight, or thirteen years. But hey, I’m still active as a golfer. I live my life doing everything I want to do. I accept this challenge, I am not afraid. All I want is for my kids and the rest of my family to stay healthy, says John Daly.
