As you know, this week was a big question mark for Johanna Hagström’s participation in the World Cup on skis in Ulricehamn, when she felt that her windpipe was worn out.
However, he got to the start in Saturday’s individual sprint competition, and how he did. She finished second in the final behind her national teammate Maja Dahlqvist and thus recorded the biggest success of her career so far at the World Cup.

– Everything felt good after last Saturday’s race and also at home for the night, so I was fully prepared to go down and run the team sprint. But when I woke up on Sunday, I felt like it wasn’t quite right for me. It had just gotten a little worse overnight.
– So I called the leadership of the national team and we had a reasoning on how I should do it. Considering that it is the Swedish Championship this week and that I may be relevant to the World Cup in Obersdorf a bit later, we made the decision together that I would stay, says Johanna.
She adds that it felt wise and difficult at the same time to make this decision.
– I really wanted to drive and was able to experience the wonderful atmosphere, despite the lack of audience, in Ulricehamn. It was fantastic on Saturday.
Now it was the television sofa, but already this week we can see Johanna Hagström compete again, since it is the Swedish Championship, which is decided a few kilometers from Ulricehamn, that is, in Borås.
– There are competitions for three days, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Tuesday I will not run, however, I am registered for the sprint on Wednesday (classic style) and for the distance race on Thursday (15km classic style with mass start), says Johanna.
– In dialogue with my coach, I have to decide during the week if it will be the two races for me or if I am satisfied with one. It’s just a matter of waiting and seeing what happens to my windpipe, he adds.
After the great success This Saturday was a small and simple celebration at home with the family in Falköping after neighbors, friends and relatives gathered outside the house in connection with the homecoming and toasted Johanna.
– It was absolutely fantastic afterwards, there are so many who have heard it and have congratulated. I probably still haven’t been able to take in what happened, other than it was a lot of fun doing it in this particular competition, she says.

Afterwards, of course, he has had time to watch their races since Saturday, not least the final.
– Yes, I have looked at it a bit, and as usual is that you always find little things that you think you could have done differently. But that’s all, one thing is to see it from the side, another thing to be in the middle, sums up Johanna Hagström.
