JK wants the Swedish Bar Association to exclude a lawyer in Gothenburg

At the beginning of September, the disciplinary committee of the Bar Association warned the lawyer, the second toughest measure, and imposed a fine of 50,000 Swedish crowns. At the time, three prosecutors in western Sweden denounced him for helping clients circumvent detention restrictions and had established a false alibi, which DN had previously reported.

He was convicted in two cases, but acquitted in the third. However, the Bar Association did not want to go so far as to exclude the lawyer.

The Chancellor of Justice writes now on their website that they are appealing the decision of the disciplinary committee of the Swedish Bar Association; they want to be excluded, which Expressen was the first to report.

“In summary, AA (attorney, editor’s note) has twice seriously violated its obligations as an attorney by transmitting information in violation of advertised restrictions to its clients,” the Chancellor of Justice writes and continues:

“In the opinion of the Chancellor of Justice, there are strong reasons to continue to take very seriously the fact that a lawyer abuses a rule that is as important to the legal profession as the privilege of a room. Therefore, the Supreme Court must change the decision of the disciplinary committee and exclude AA from the bar association. “

In two of the cases as the lawyer was warned, he had represented people with strong ties to organized crime. He has been repeatedly hired by a family in northeast Gothenburg, which is home to a large group of people who have been singled out by the police as one of the most influential criminal networks in the city.

In its decision, the disciplinary committee of the Bar Association writes that the lawyer “on two occasions in a relatively short time has committed serious violations of good legal practice in the way of acting in violation of the restrictions announced to clients.”

DN has reached out to the attorney for comment.
