Jens Magnusson leaves IFK Norrköping

IFK Norrköping stormed to the Swedish Championship gold at the start of the 2020 season. But Beijing collapsed and when the final round faded, it was clear that Norrköping would miss the European Games with a sixth place.

Former employee Stefan Hellberg decided to resign and directed strong criticism of the club’s board and specifically Peter Hunt.

– The board does not treat people in a respectful way. The board’s task is, like we in football, to make sure to motivate, inspire and encourage everyone through their coaches. Today we do not have that environment. Many in the association do not feel that support or security. We don’t have that atmosphere in the whole association. I see people who are not feeling well, are sad, and cannot perform at their job. It is serious for the future of the association, Hellberg told NT.

“Great efforts that affect many”

Now comes the next game, and this time it’s about the club’s director, Jens Magnusson. He thinks it has been a rough year and the energy is running out.

– That during the last year he has not really felt the trust or mandate of the board that previously made his work difficult. I have the family in Växjö and there is a son and a daughter who need more from their father, of course. The idea was to move with them to Norrköping, but with the history that exists and with the situation that has been, it has simply made me not dare. These are important initiatives that affect many, Jens Magnusson tells Folkbladet.

There has been a real storm around IFK Norrköping last year. Last winter Mikael Hansson, the club’s director of players, resigned. This despite strong protests from the player squad. Sports injury therapist Dale Reese, leader Stefan Thordarson and marketing manager Robin Bornehav have chosen to leave the association.
