IFK Norrköping lost the last Allsvenskan match against the already cut Helsingborg. Therefore, the club failed to get the top three in the Allsvenskan and coach Jens Gustafsson has been under great pressure for a long time despite having one year left on his contract.
Now it is also clear that he is leaving the club.
On Saturday night, SportExpressen was able to say that it is clear that Jens Gustafsson will be leaving Norrköping after he told several of his key players that he will not stay at the club. Soon after, the news became official.
Jens Gustafsson leaves Norrköping
– In this way, I want to thank everyone who made these five years at IFK Norrköping unforgettable. Thanks to all the players and leaders who worked tirelessly to develop both the team and the organization. I would like to extend a special thanks to all our fans who have contributed greatly to my best memories of the club, says Gustafsson on the Norrköping website.
Jens Gustafsson took over the team after gold coach Janne Andersson left for the national team in the summer of 2016.
– It has been a privilege to be inspired and challenged by all those whose hearts beats for the team and the club and I will always remember you with warmth and joy. It also feels great to have contributed to creating the financial conditions that secure IFK for the future. Finally, I want to thank the city of Norrköping who made me feel welcome and at home, says Gustafsson.
