Jennie Öberg has a long career behind her with a World Cup victory in the Rybinsk 2015 sprint as the main merit. But various diseases over the years have disturbed the 30-year-old.

Just a few weeks ago, Öberg was admitted to the hospital after being hit by covid-19. Now he is recovering from the disease, but will not invest beyond the season.

– The season was shorter than usual and now I have had time to think. When I was sick, I had to think about how I feel starting with four or five hours of training a day from May to early November. I feel like I don’t have the motivation to spend that time, ”he tells Norrbottens Kuriren.

“Will work more”

Öberg will continue skiing, but will not invest in the same way as before.

– Now I have to work more, like everyone else. So skiing is still a big part of my life and I don’t know if I’ll stick with it on any side project. I am still in Kalix SK and I will certainly have some training with the youth there, it gives me a lot of energy to see their joy and passion for the sport. But we’ll see how those pieces fit together, she says.
