After only a year of operations, Jeansbolaget in Nordstan filed for bankruptcy. This is due to the crown crisis and the drastic reduction in sales.
– The entire clothing retailer is in a kind of black hole, Stefan Skeppstedt, bankruptcy manager, tells GP.
“There will be rings in the water”
The jeans company is not the first company forced into bankruptcy during the crown pandemic, nor the last, explains Stefan Skeppstedt.
– We have had many major clothing bankruptcies in recent months and violent sales make it easier for the customer to go there. There will be rings in the water when the other stores also have a hard time selling at regular prices, he tells GP.
GT previously reported on how the crown pandemic has affected Gothenburg’s shopping malls.
– It’s a bit chaotic among the tenants. The number of visitors has decreased by 30 percent per week, which it was. However, Anders Strand, manager of the Frölunda Torg center, has said a lot among the various stores.
28 million visitors a year
The Nordstan shopping center in central Gothenburg attracts around 28 million visitors each year. President Ulrika Carlsson has previously testified that there are fewer visitors since the crown crisis began.
– We closely follow the developments and the recommendations made by the authorities. We have expanded cleaning, canceled events, adjusted opening hours for most stores, but at the same time, for example, our pharmacies and supermarkets have been open longer, Ulrika Carlsson said previously.
