Zlatan Ibrahimovic attacked Janne Andersson after Dejan Kulusevski was left out of the starting lineup against France.
Now the league captain answers.
– What people think of me and other things I have to put up with as captain of the national team, he says.
Many wanted to see Dejan Kulusevski early on in the Nations League encounter with France, but the super talent had to start on the bench.
The Juventus player himself was surprised after the game.
– I think it was strange but it’s just to respect the decision, he said.
On Sunday morning, Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave his opinion on the team’s selection.
What a fucking joke. Another test. Incompetent people in the wrong positions that suffocate Swedish football, ”he wrote on Twitter.
Janne Andersson does not normally meet the press the day after the match, but after Ibrahimovic’s move, he was called to the press conference in which John Guidetti and Gustav Svensson will participate.
“Everyone can think and think”
The league captain began by commenting on yesterday’s game against France. Then came the questions about Kulusevski and Zlatan.
– If we start with Dejan. Dejan and I spoke today. I have no problem with the essence of what he said. I have a lot of players throughout the year, since then maybe he expressed something a little too strong in context when he said shock and things that made headlines. He himself said that he may have expressed himself too strongly, he says and continues:
– In other aspects, what people think of me and other things, I have to put up with as captain of the national team. I know that those of us who work most closely make our decisions together and trust that process. Then there will always be views from different sectors.
How does Zlatan’s post affect him and the players?
– It doesn’t affect me at all. Everybody thinks and thinks and I knew that people would think and think when I accepted this job. Who thinks and thinks is not interesting. People can think what they want. I’m doing the best I can.
“Then I get a little angry”
Andersson was also asked how he views the diversity debate created by his team’s selections.
– I select the team based on the players who have the best chance of winning the match. That there is a great commitment to what we do, I think it’s a lot of fun. Everyone has the right to have an opinion, but do not mix strange things because then it might bother me a bit, he says and continues:
– If we talk specifically about who will play, I have no idea. I have to choose the best team, I don’t look at where they were born or where their parents come from. I find it extremely boring to have to talk about this topic with people who know the values that I have. It’s about everyone having the same opportunities, and the more differences, the better dynamics we get in the team. But I don’t see it that way, I see them as footballers.
