Janne Andersson frustrated suspended against Croatia

First up was the assistant captain of the national team Peter Wettergren, who was so upset with Serbian referee Srdjan Jovanovic that he received a yellow card in connection with Portugal’s 2-0 goal against Sweden in the Nations League.

Then it was the turn of the captain of the national team, Janne Andersson.

An increasingly frustrated Andersson became irritated after a hold in the second half and was warned from the sideline.

Because the captain of the league received a yellow card also in a previous Nations League match, he is now suspended when Sweden take on Croatia at home in November. Andersson should not be on the Friends Arena bench in the fateful game that will determine whether Blue and Yellow, who lost four consecutive competitive games, manage to stay in the highest division of the tournament.

– We will be prepared for that too, but it’s not good, says Andersson about the suspension to CMore.

– Of course you shouldn’t be suspended as a leader, so there’s nothing I’m happy or proud of. But today’s reactions were from all over the bench. If he (the referee) gets two yellows on the bench today, I think he will have a hard time the rest of his career when it will be real and very hot games, because that was not the case today.

He continues:

– I don’t think it was so advanced because of what the consequences would be, but now it is.

Portugal won finally the meeting on Wednesday with 3-0.

– They win the game clearly fair, but the periods in us are very good.
