Five players were suspended from the national team due to quarantine rules.

Jacob Rinne, Joel Andersson and Oscar Hiljemark are now called up for the training match against Denmark.

– The three players have been with us before in different contexts and that makes the shoot short, says the captain of the national team, Janne Andersson.

UK clubs decided on Sunday not to release players who will play in Denmark during the national team’s break because they must remain in quarantine for more than five days when they return.

This means that Sweden will have to do without Manchester United’s Victor Lindelöf, Everton’s Robin Olsen, Newcastle’s Emil Krafth, Watford’s Ken Sema and Rangers’ Filip Helander in Wednesday’s training match against Denmark.

“Quick jerks”

Now national team captain Janne Andersson, who is in crown quarantine after a relative tested positive for COVID-19, has asked for three replacements.

Ålborg goalkeeper Jacob Rinne and midfielder Oscar Hiljemark take a place in the squad, as does Midtjylland right-back Joel Andersson.

– The three players have been with us before in different contexts and that makes the shoot short, which is good because there are already quick hitches with Wednesday’s game, says national team captain Janne Andersson on the website of the association.

The national team meets in Copenhagen on Monday. After Wednesday’s game, Croatia awaits at home on Saturday in the Nations League and then France on Tuesday.
