Hammarby scored a point in the summit meeting with Häcken on Sunday after an extra-time goal in the second half from 17-year-old Aimar Sher. The midfielder fired a shot into the far center.
Coach Stefan Billborn:
– Häcken came out with a bit more energy than us, and also made it 1-0 (in the 17th minute). Then they got even better. They are good at adapting and are well organized.
In the second half, Bajen tried to push for the draw, but it was a long time before they found the right one.
– We got a bit more bite but at the same time they created dangerous chances and David (Ousted, Hammarby goalkeeper) made some great saves. Then we had some diagonal balls to the far side that we didn’t score on and then it’s a fantastic number from Aimar. It is only to thank and receive.
Now Hammarby has two points to third place (which means European games next season) with four rounds to play, after Norrköping lost to runner-up Elfsborg and Djurgården was defeated by last team Falkenberg on Sunday.
“We will probably look at it as if we take a point on two teams, even if there are a lot of crossover matches at this Allsvenskan,” says Billborn.
As for striker Sher, who played from the start in three straight games, Billborn is pleased with the development he sees.
– It has had a great development. The funny thing about a player like Aimar is that you see that only nature can get away with it, that he gets a little more muscle, then he will take a lot of percent to get there.
– He really can’t resist (in duels) and gets a bit naive at times. He wants to cover the ball and get hit, but he often falls head-on. So it looks like a free throw but it is not a free throw.
Billborn continues:
– He’s fine. I think the most important thing is that he wants the ball all the time. The most important thing for me is that you want the ball and take the initiative with it. He is going to be a very good soccer player.
Goalkeeper David Ousted thinks Hammarby should be satisfied with a cross against Häcken.
– The point becomes important in our search for a European place. Of course I am disappointed that there are not three points, but considering the way the match unfolded, we should be happy with one point, says the Dane.
– It is (the European game) important for the club and I think our team is good enough that we can take a place.
The goalkeeper let in 1-0 after just over a quarter of the game. A wink from inside the penalty area became too difficult for Ousted to handle.
– I tried to get my body behind the ball and save it, but unfortunately it had an unfortunate rebound off the post and in rather than in and out of the post.
