On Friday morning, the prosecutor’s office announced that the investigation in the high-profile case in Ystad will be closed. The parents were investigated for assault, illegal coercion and illegal deprivation of liberty.

– Nothing has emerged in the statements of the minors or in other parts of the investigation that has indicated that they are criminal acts, but there are deficiencies in the care and that is a matter of Social Services, says the chamber prosecutor Ingegerd Jigin to SVT News.

The Public Ministry writes that it has taken all the investigative measures it has considered possible. Among other things, they searched the house and listened to the three middle children.

– One of the children is too young and the other was already an adult when it happened, says Ingegerd Jigin about why only three of the five children have been listened to.

The investigation uncovered lies

In the spring of 2018, the Swedish Tax Agency will launch an investigation that will change everything. The authority then discovers that the father has received compensation for illness for almost ten years. The mother has been on sick leave since 2015. There are no indications of foreign travel, and no passports issued to the couple’s children.

The parents stated that the family lived abroad and that the children had received distance education.

Even then, a preliminary investigation was launched, but was closed in September 2018. In March of this year the case was retaken, and it is this investigation that is now closed.
