A man who has been arrested in his absence and wanted internationally for a high-profile murder in Gammelstan in Gothenburg on May 3 this year has been arrested.

The man is said to have been extradited from the Gambia to Sweden with the help of, among others, the Gambian police and Interpol. After the flight, the man must have been arrested when he set foot in Gothenburg’s Landvetter Airport.

– For the murder investigation, it is of utmost importance that the man is now brought to Sweden. Everyone involved has put a lot of commitment into the case, Tobias Bergkvist, head of the police’s regional investigation unit, says in a press release.

A total of 15 people are now in custody for their role in the murder. The man who was arrested in Landvetter is also under investigation in preparation for the murder of three relatives of the murdered man.

The police also write that the man now detained is considered to have a leadership role in the criminal network to which many of those already detained are suspected of belonging.
