The frozen peas came with a surprise: a dead mouse.

Sunday dinner was common at Ingrid’s house in Kalmar.
But when the peas were going to boil, a dead mouse fell out of the package.
– It wasn’t a big deal if you say so, she says.
Meatloaf, potatoes, cream sauce with mushrooms and peas. But the mouse that fell into the boiling water from Ingrid’s pack of frozen peas caused her and her husband to lose their appetite, to say the least.
– It wasn’t that nice, we just felt bad. They were ready to puke, there was nothing we expected to find in a package like this, she says.
I had already eaten the peas
At first Ingrid thought it was a rotten pea pod, but her husband said it was impossible.
– We put it in the sink and looked at it through a magnifying glass, like in biology at school, he says.
What upset the couple the most was the fact that they had eaten out of the pack on other occasions.
– You need to go out, what we can get in the food. This shouldn’t just be hidden under the rug, says Ingrid.

Ingrid received a macabre surprise before dinner on Sunday.
He contacted both Axfood and the chain of stores from which he bought the peas.
– Axfood has responded and said they will do some great research and then contact me. They believe this was not acceptable in any way. Of course not! Says Ingrid.
Lost appetite
For SVT Småland, who first reported on the macabre discovery, Axfood writes that it is highly unlikely that the mouse ended up in the bag of peas during the production or packaging process, but that it should be investigated if anything happened after that. .
“We receive a report and inform the consumer that we have started an investigation together with our supplier. Obviously, this is not something that should happen, and given the processes that exist for manufacturing and packaging, our supplier does not understand how it could have happened, ”they write to SVT.
– We had dinner anyway, but not with much appetite. It wasn’t a big deal, so to speak. I still feel like I’m not that interested in eating, it will probably take me a few days, says Ingrid.
But there were no peas for Sunday dinner.
– Not absolutely not. Instead, we add tomato and feta cheese. It felt like a more secure card, says Ingrid.
