Ingesson on Kalla: “We have to give him time”

The leadership of the national team, together with Charlotte Kalla, discussed what is best for her for the future in this year’s season.

This weekend she competed for the first time since March, and although she feels healthy from the covid infection she suffered in November, there is still a long way to go before she can compete.

– We feel that being able to continue working at home is better than a tour with many competitions in a short time. It is starting to catch up in terms of training, but in terms of capacity it is a little behind, says Magnus Ingesson.

More harm than good

Ingesson says there’s a lot you don’t know about recovering from an illness like this and that he as a coach wants to do it safely.

– We have judged that a ten-day period with many competitions can do more harm than good, but we have not decided beforehand. Charlotte is not normally the one competing for the championship. We, Stefan (Thomson, coach of the national team) and I were quite in agreement on the choice we would make.

Magnus Ingesson does not want to speculate on when Charlotte Kalla will return to one hundred percent.

– There are still a couple of months until the World Cup and at the moment I do not see anything that means that I could not be in the same way that I was before getting sick.
