The fact that the expansion of nursing homes could not be stopped this spring has been pointed to as the decisive reason for the high death toll in Sweden.

In the home care service, one in five home care providers report cases. During the last week, 68 elderly people have been found infected with home care, of which 38 are being treated in the hospital. That is more than double compared to a total of 27 cases.
Among the city’s 97 nursing homes, 69 older people have been found to be carriers of the infection, triple the number from the previous week.
At the same time, more than a hundred elderly people in the elderly care are suspected to be infected. According to a DN source, there is talk in the city of Stockholm that covid tests have “failed.”
According to unconfirmed information from DN, the crisis management committee of the city of Stockholm will now hold a meeting in the afternoon and decide on a total stop to visit all the nursing homes.
March 18 took The city of Stockholm decided to stop visiting nursing homes and a decision was made on April 1 on a national ban on visiting all nursing homes in Sweden to reduce the spread of the infection. The decision to stop visiting specialty accommodations was reversed on October 1, 2020.

– We have a clear and quite strong increase in the number of infected, said Greger Bengtsson, coordinator of care for the elderly in the municipalities and regions of Sweden (SKR).
