Infectious Disease Physician Appeal: National Guidelines for Oral Protection | News

[ad_1]

The spread of the coronavirus continues to increase in Sweden. It has led several regions to introduce more stringent requirements for oral protection.

The Västerbotten, Uppsala, Gävleborg, Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Sörmland regions have tightened the guidelines and are now recommending residents to wear mouth guards on public transport 24 hours a day. The regions also encourage the use of mouth guards at work and other places where distances cannot be maintained.

Signar Mäkitalo, an infection control doctor in the Sörmland region, now wants to see the new recommendations for oral protection introduced across the country. He also wants to see a restriction on travel in the country.

– Yes, because we have a great movement in the country, for example all those who stay in the mountain areas. I would like national recommendations and have loved it for a long time, says Signar Mäkitalo in Aktuellt from SVT.

Mäkitalo: may be the beginning of the third wave

According to Signar Mäkitalo, the strong spread of the infection may be the beginning of a third wave.

– The reason is, among other things, that the British virus variant seems to take over extremely quickly, it says on the show.

– What significance do you expect this measure to have in terms of the spread of infection? Asks Jon Nilsson, host.

– How big it is, I really can’t say. But now everything we can do to reduce the spread of the infection is necessary, replies Signar Mäkitalo.
