In Europe, the spread is increasing and the infection situation is now approaching the levels that existed before the summer. Spain is again in a very extended area, as are France and Greece. The Western Balkans, countries of the former Yugoslavia, are also experiencing increased proliferation.
– It’s definitely something to think about when traveling there, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell at the Public Health Agency press conference Thursday. Emphasizes that in case of travel, in addition to infection control aspects, it is also important to know the rules and restrictions that apply in the country you are visiting.
Travel tips outside the EU
It also emphasizes that travel advice to all countries outside of Europe is upheld. In Sweden, however, the general expansion of society has drastically stopped.
– It is also reflected in how many are served in VAT.
But Tegnell also warns that Sweden may be behind the development of other countries and that therefore there is a risk that the spread of the infection will accelerate even here if the recommendations are not followed.
Speak up against the second wave
However, two things suggest that Sweden is not affected by a second wave, says Tegnell: Second, we have had the same restrictions all the time, it provides stability and predictability and that people’s behavior hasn’t changed much. Partly because we have had more patients and therefore it is not so easy for a new spread to accelerate.
– We have a different situation in Sweden than in other European countries because we do not go from a company closure to a reopening
Therefore, we probably will not see the same development in Sweden as in the rest of Europe, according to the state epidemiologist who believes that we see a different continuity and stability here.
– The most important thing is that the people who come here get the information that we are not an open society but that we also have restrictions, even if they are volunteers.
