Roland Nilsson came to IFK Gothenburg with a short-term goal and a bit longer-term goal: to end the suite undefeated and save the club at the Allsvenskan.
Against Falkenberg he resolved the first.
Many thanks to Alexander Farnerud, who got used to scoring important goals.
That is to say, it was he who carefully stayed in front of the penalty area in Pontus Wernbloom’s escape by Yahja Kalley’s post from the left. Farnerud had only a few meters to go to the finish line and could hardly fail to give Blåvitt the advantage.
The happy IFK players quickly gathered in a circle, a sight that has not been too common at this year’s Allsvenskan. Was this the change of course?
It turned out to be so. The 2-0 occurred in a similar way, but from the opposite side. A good play down the right wing led to Alexander Jallow’s post. Gothenburg was then helped to manage, through Anton Wede, who resolutely hit the ball on his own net roof, giving IFK Gothenburg a comfortable seat to sit in for the remainder of the half. It could have been even more enjoyable if Tobias Sana had not missed Blåvitt’s penalty with two minutes to go.
Fourth penalty foul of the season
Sana, who fixed the penalty by bombarding Amiot’s hand, missed an eleven-meter kick until late August, but immediately grabbed the ball. He, with the result in hand, would not have done it. The penalty went low to Noring’s right into Falkenberg’s goal, but it was too loose for Noring to take it. IFK Gothenburg had to be content with going into halftime with a two-goal lead.
They went into the second half with a clear objective: to win the match. It would be done through a low and careful defensive game. That direction became even clearer when Pontus Wernbloom made room for Mattias Bjärsmyr with thirty minutes to go. Blåvitt would defend himself until the first victory since July 2.
He earned that honor, despite the fact that Falkenberg created a handful of middle positions through all the posts that were released to Giannis Anestis. The closest and most dangerous was Gustaf Nilsson, who repeatedly won head duels against Blåvitt’s midfielders.
First win in 15 games secured
In one of the few attacks after the break, Yahja Kalley set another penalty for the guests. Tobias Sana, surprisingly, stepped back and put the ball up high. This time he was safe, and the 3-0 on the tally meant three points on the tally. Roland Nilsson had the beginning of his dreams. IFK Gothenburg had its turn.
– It was a difficult match. We knew we had a tough game coming here. Heavy legs, heavy heads after the last game. There are not many days to load. We came across a Falkenberg who hasn’t played so we saw a bit of the difference in energy, he tells Dplay and continues:
– But the boys did today what we had agreed, we would be compact and we would work together. Both in the defensive game, but also in the offensive game, so we became a unit and I think we can do it today.
First win since July 2. So it is important to rejoice properly.
– Now we will enjoy this victory, because it is worth doing and it should be done. At the same time, a new day begins when we arrive tomorrow and then preparations for the next match begin. So it is also important to adjust and eventually recharge to the best of your ability. There is no time to enjoy too much, says Roland Nilsson.
