IFK Gothenburg opened up to fans

IFK Gothenburg’s last training session before a match is always closed to both spectators and the media.

The Saturday pass, however, was an exception. At the request of the followers, Kamratgården was opened.

In this way, many Blue and Whites had the opportunity to watch some football in the autumn sun and to support their team before Sunday’s important meeting with Bois de Varberg.

– We have had a request for a while, fans have wanted to come and support us for several weeks. Today we thought it was a good opportunity, says IFK coach Roland Nilsson.

How important is it for the players to feel that the fans are there?

– That was one of the reasons they were here, that the players must feel that the fans are still there. Unfortunately, they are not allowed to go to our matches, but they are still there.

The players also came and thanked the fans present after an hour and a half of training. Mattias Bjärsmyr led the team.

– Now the groups have gathered. We know they support us, but that they come and show it is fun and good, he says.

What do these mean?

– Like I said, it’s fun and we can feel the support. We feel like we get along with them. We need them even if they are not in their place in the games. A club always needs supporters.

Jesper Tolinsson:

– It was great! It was the first time I experienced it. I have never had followers who have seen a training session.

What does support mean?

– It means a lot to see that people care and encourage you.

Jakob Johansson misses meeting with Varbergs Bois

If you’re going to believe Roland Nilsson, open training was unique. In the future, it will be closed again.

– Now we decided to do it this time. Whether it will be more times is more doubtful, he says.

As for the Blue and White injury situation, Jakob Johansson did not practice on Saturday. The midfielder, who came out of the Allsvenskan meeting with IF Elfsborg during the break, will also not be with Varbergs Bois.

– He has not trained this week and this match comes too early, says physical therapist Calle Persson.

Robin Söder, Giorgi Kharaishvili and Noah Alexander were present during Saturday’s session. However, they are not really ready for games yet.

– They are not relevant, says Calle Persson.

However, all three, plus Jakob Johansson, should be able to get back into play after the next national team break.
