GOTHENBURG. IFK Gothenburg’s forecast for the economy in 2020 indicates a loss of 5 to 15 million SEK.
This was announced by the club’s director, Max Markusson, at a digital membership meeting and also confirmed that Blåvitt has a plan for games at the Superettan.
– We are prepared if that happens, he says.
IFK Gothenburg is going heavy on the field and struggling to secure the Allsvenskan contract. But the club believes it has done relatively well financially during the difficult year of the 2020 pandemic.
– We have acted on the information given and in line with the recommendations received during the year. So we didn’t want to speculate on any economic forecast this spring, whether we roll back 30, 40, or 100 million. At the time, not all the tools were in place, says club director Max Markusson at a digital briefing that drew as many as 843 members to listen on Wednesday night.
Now, however, Markusson announced where the forecast is pointing financially for IFK Gothenburg.
– We have a prognosis that indicates a negative result of SEK 5 to 15 million. It is a wide range and that is because we have a series of agreements that are waiting. We also don’t know how much RF will contribute to Swedish football.
It is said to be sold for 25 million
On Tuesday IFK Gothenburg announced that it will sell 17-year-old midfielder Jesper Tolinsson to Belgian Lommel SK, which is owned by the same owner as Manchester City, City Group. According to Göteborgs-Posten, the sale can bring up to SEK 25 million in total.
– This negotiation (with City Group) means that we can secure our capital and make an active decision not to sell more of our players; They wouldn’t pay us as well for them in the current situation, Markusson says at the briefing.
IFK Gothenburg’s share capital was SEK 22.6 million at the beginning of 2020. Therefore, the forecast indicates that Blåvitt manages to retain positive capital, but also risks ending up well below SEK 10 million. SEK.
Various fan and member activities have contributed SEK 10.5 million to IFK Gothenburg’s finances during the season, the club reported.
– It was absolutely decisive and fantastic, says Max Markusson.
On the sports situation, he said:
– We will continue to work towards our goals of becoming a top-notch Swedish club. But we also have to ask ourselves pretty tough questions why we ended up where we are now.
Plan for the supermarket
That question was asked of the club director when members had a chance to ask questions.
Is there a plan B if we should sadly leave the Allsvenskan, and what would it look like in that case? asked a member.
– It is quite difficult to answer in detail. We work with several budget options. This is not something we want to talk about. The whole focus should be on us staying at the Allsvenskan.
“But that’s how it is, we are prepared if that happened,” says Markusson.
Sporting director Pontus Farnerud gave his opinion on the sporting failure:
– We wanted to take the lead (this spring) to compete against the other teams. But when we were going to continue building, the crown came and hit the sport hard. We had to pull the handbrake when it comes to new acquisitions and players. The most important thing was finding a balance in the economy, says Farnerud.
Marketing manager Erica Berghagen confirmed that 300 tickets will be raffled for annual card holders for the match against Örebro SK on Sunday. For the remaining two home games, new draws will be held in which those who have already seen a game on the spot will not have the chance again.
