Djurgården’s sporting director Bosse Andersson recently confirmed for Fotbollskanalen that several players will be leaving the association, including 28-year-old main midfielder Fredrik Ulvestad. The Norwegian has long been linked to a move abroad, and now the association is also thanking the player on its website.
Ulvestad himself expresses warm feelings about his time with the Stockholm team.
– I’ve had a great time here in Djurgården, where we have won two titles in three years. Unfortunately, there was no one this season, but overall they have been very good years, says Ulvestad and continues:
– I have always liked to win titles, that’s why you play soccer. So it feels good to be able to achieve those goals, even though I’m always hungry for more.
Ulvestad will miss a lot of people in Djurgården.
– I have enjoyed a lot and have received a good reception since I arrived and until now. There are very nice people in the association, the fans are fantastic and my family and I have really enjoyed Stockholm. So I’ve had a great time here and now we’ll see what awaits me next. It will be a new chapter for me and we will see what it contains.
Bosse Andersson, Djurgården Sporting Director:
– When we contacted “Ulven” he was in England and it was probably not his first thought of coming to Sweden. We knew about his role and his skill as a player and the idea was for him to come here and develop the association so that we could win titles. It can truly be said that he has delivered on what Ulven has been a fantastic contributor to us winning the Swedish Championship and Gold Cup and has become one of the best football players in Allsvenskan. He has played almost every game during these years and the project was that he would be here during this three-year period. We also know Fredrik’s ambitions, where he wants to move, and so we have decided to thank him now for his efforts for Djurgården. Then the future will show what awaits you next.
Ulvestad is this year on the list of eleven goals and two assists in 26 games in the Allsvenskan. Ulvestad joined in 2018 from Burnley and has been involved in leading Djurgården to a gold cup in 2018 and a gold at the Swedish Championship in 2019. Early in his career, he has also belonged to Charlton and Ålesund.
