“I didn’t get the credit I earned at my home in Sweden”

Feyenoord fans will never forget John Guidetti.

20 league goals in 21 starts in the 2011/12 season was an incredible feat.

But the fact is that Guidetti himself celebrates his first season at Celta Vigo as the most impressive of his career.

– The challenge in La Liga is much greater. So I think the years at Celta Vigo were the best so far, and that 2015/16 is my best year of football so far. Admittedly, I could have signed for even bigger clubs after winning U21 gold, but I did my studies carefully and realized Celta Vigo would be the perfect club for me, says John Guidetti.

Guidetti: “The League is usually a little forgotten”

The Swede was able to count seven goals in the league and five more in the cup during 2015/16. This despite the fact that he acted as a hopeful for most of the season.

– In total, I did twelve pods against the best teams in the world during my first season in Spain, and there’s probably a part of me that I think didn’t get the credit at home in Sweden that I really deserved for it. We Swedes are so focused on the Premier League that the League can generally forget a bit.

Otherwise, the first time at Celta Vigo was also an almost shocking experience for John Guidetti. The initial training games during the summer before the league started were something really extra.

“This was soccer completely in my own way”

– Several of the matches ended in fights, so they had to be interrupted a bit in the second half. It was just that … Hey, special. “What the hell is this for the fucking teams I’m done with?” I like it. There were many South Americans at Celta, and so much excitement in the team. At first I didn’t take anything, so really nothing, but I quickly came to love him. I am a very passionate player and this was football on my way, says the Swede to Aftonbladet.

John Guidetti could not continue an equally good second season at Celta Vigo. In the third season, he was loaned to Deportivo Alavés, who later bought the 28-year-old.

In January of this year, Guidetti was loaned to German Hannover. There have been four starts in the 2nd Bundesliga and one goal before the season was canceled.
