On Thursday, Hugo Alnefelt is expected to be part of the JVM team that gathers in Sundsvall next week for a pre-tournament quarantine camp in Edmonton.
If Sweden goes far in the championship, the HV 71 risks running out of its star promise for a month, leaving a huge gap in the team’s formation.
To cover up Alnefelt, Jönköping’s team is now taking in the experienced Markus Svensson, who became unemployed during the fall. Information abounded two weeks ago that Svensson was at Brynäs’ entrance to fill the void left by the injured Viktor Andrén, but now it will be HV 71 for the 36-year-old.
Two golds with Skellefteå
The agreement with Svensson is written until January 9.
– Hugo will most likely be selected in the Junior Crowns and therefore we have reached this agreement with Markus which we are very happy about. Markus is a very serious and professional goalkeeper with a lot of experience, says Johan Hult, sporting director at HV71, on the club’s website.
Markus Svensson recently belonged to Färjestad and has two golds in the Swedish Championship with Skellefteå from 2013 and 2014.
