During the corona pandemic, there has been a lot of pressure on the 1177 Vårdguiden phone and website. This is demonstrated by the new figures from Inera, the regional and municipal company that develops and manages services.
In September, more than nine million logins were made to its electronic services, a 98 percent increase compared to the same month last year. These include people who want to read your medical records, renew prescriptions, reserve office hours, or covid tests.
– The pandemic has increased both the need for information and anxiety. We have seen it all year. It is also very advantageous for the regions to have this unique entry. The increase in usage is not surprising and I am grateful that we can contribute, says Sofie Zetterström, business area manager at 1177 Vårdguiden in Inera.
Increased digitization has It has long stood out as an important way forward for healthcare. It is considered a necessary rationalization in a future in which the population is aging and demanding attention, at the same time that the supply of personnel is expected to decrease. During the corona pandemic, great strides have been made on that journey.
– I think we would have come here anyway, but it would have taken us a couple more years. We have been doing this for 20 years and it has been increasing all the time. But we have never seen an increase like this year. It’s extreme, says Sofie Zetterström, who doesn’t see any return to what it used to look like.
– I don’t think people will ever sit in a queue or waiting room unnecessarily. So I also think that healthcare is getting used to digital working methods. You can see that it is possible to use video calls or chat instead of physical visits. This will continue.
Even for those who don’t has a bank ID or can handle a smartphone or computer, there are advantages to development, says Sofie Zetterström.
– They have an even better chance of being able to get a physical visit or a phone call on those who can and want to handle their cases digitally. Time is freed up for those who really need care.
