It is not uncommon for grease plugs to form in drains. The most famous is perhaps the giant plug in London that had to be replaced for parts (pictured). It got to be 80 meters long. Stock Photography.
The drainage pipe where the lumps accumulate is made of old cement and will now be renovated. In connection with the preparations for this, the new grease plug was discovered, which according to information from SVT Öst is estimated to be around 20 meters long.
– This line was drawn in the 1960s and has now slowly sunk due to all the traffic on the road above. This means that there will be a depression that will cause the grease residues and gravel to stay there, says Magnus Ålstam, VA engineer from Nodra to Norrköping newspapers.
Divers can now remove the grease plug by hand.
