The Swedish Security Police believe that Huawei is a security risk, it was announced on Tuesday.
– We have been in Sweden for more than 20 years. We have contributed to the fantastic digital position that Sweden has today. We have helped build perhaps the best and most secure mobile network in the world today, says Kenneth Fredriksen, head of the Nordic and Baltic markets at Huawei, in SVT: s Aktuellt on Tuesday.
“Disappointed”
Fredriksen says he is surprised by the news that Huawei cannot participate in the 5G expansion in Sweden.
– Obviously, it is surprising and disappointing that they have chosen that we should not continue to contribute to the digital success that Sweden can achieve by implementing the 5G network.
It also emphasizes that Chinese law requires Chinese companies and citizens to report to the Chinese intelligence service if they discover mysterious items. What do you say about that?
– We have tried to communicate, not only to the Swedish authorities, but also to other customers and authorities, that we are actually a private company owned by employees.
“Do not give up”
Kenneth Fredriksen says the company follows all local laws and regulations, even if the head office is in China.
– We comply with Swedish laws and regulations.
Now stopped from the Swedish 5G network, what does that mean to you?
– First of all, it means that we are forced to mobilize our power and focus on our customers so that it has the least negative consequence possible. We will use our time for that.
Have you lost hope of 5G?
– We don’t give up anything. But based on what was announced today, there are reasons for concern. I realized that.
