Parkslide – The worst of its kind when it comes to invasive plants. Many are tampas with the implanted plant from Asia, which runs the risk of entering the foundations of houses and plumbing systems and which in principle is impossible to get rid of.
Digging up it has proven to be practically ineffective, as the small forgotten parts of the plant quickly take root and form new plants.
But now the Kalmar County Board of Trustees is testing a new method to combat the monster’s growth. This is water at around 98 degrees that is sprayed on the ground to boil the root system, reports r SVT Nyheter Småland. A method that has been previously tested at Scania and is believed to work to stop the invasive plant from progressing.
– Parkslide is widespread across the county and will become increasingly invasive in tune with climate change. So it’s important to get involved now before it spreads too much, Patrick Isendahl, county administrative board coordinator for anti-invasive species work, tells SVT.
