The spread of the coronavirus is increasing in Sweden. And if more people get sick, the pressure on medical care increases.
Danderyd Hospital on the outskirts of Stockholm has carried out several operations and reception visits. In addition, the hospital has reduced several receptions.
During the week, the hospital “has increased the number of hospital care settings as more covid-19 patients need care,” writes Åsa Hammar, chief physician at Danderyd Hospital, in an email to TT.
In addition, he writes that there is also a need for more places of care for patients who need emergency care due to diseases other than COVID-19.
“During the week, we relocate employees who, among other things, work with planned operations and reception visits in order to increase the number of intermediate and hospital care locations,” writes Åsa Hammar.
Gothenburg Sahlgrenska University Hospital canceled all non-emergency operations next week, writes Göteborgs-Posten. This is done to be able to receive more patients with covid-19.
– If it continues at this rate, we must slow down to make room for all covid patients, Per Albertsson, pandemic care coordinator at the hospital, tells GT.
