The opportunity to order a coronatest house stops for four days in the Stockholm region.

There are simply too many tests stacked waiting for answers.

– When demand for a night or so doubled last weekend, we really didn’t have time, says Claes Ruth, functions manager at the Karolinska University Laboratory.

Last weekend, the demand for home testing in the Stockholm region almost doubled. Now the opportunity to request a home test stops for four days.

– We really did not have time and now we have to catch up, says Claes Ruth, head of functions of the Laboratory of the University of Karolinska.

“No one will be disappointed”

Karolinska is responsible for the tests, and they are now skimming a queue of approximately 16,000 samples that have emerged. They are also taking steps to build capacity so that they can handle larger volumes when the possibility of home testing arises again.

But whoever ordered a home test will get it, once it’s their turn.

– No one will be removed or lost. You will bring the test home, but it will only take time.

Prioritize the elderly and healthcare personnel

The laboratory can perform approximately 40,000 samples per week, but it also includes priority target groups; for example, care and nursing staff and people living in nursing homes.

– They are always the first priority, and we want to make sure that we have the ability to address them first.

The reason the testing rose so much this past weekend may be due in part to the fact that the infection is spreading, but also a concern resulting from reports of further spread of the infection.

– It is wrong if you test yourself on the wrong basis, which I have no reason to say. Basically, I think it’s good for people to test themselves, but I don’t know why the sharp increase in demand for tests is, says Claes Ruth.
