Danish IO Interactice (IOI), with offices in Copenhagen and Malmö, has obtained the license for a new James Bond game. “Project 007”, as the job name says, is about how Bond became a secret agent and is therefore not based on any existing movie or book.
IOIs are used to moving in the shadow world of secret agents. His “Hitman” series turns 20 this year and revolves around an assassin who uses costumes, gadgets, and often sound-absorbing weapons to accomplish his missions.
Company CEO Hakan Abrak described the Bond game in a press release as “the most ambitious in the history of our studio” and says it is a monumental undertaking. IOI is now looking with lights and flashlights for people who want to work with the degree in the offices of both companies.
“It’s true that every now and then all the stars are right in our industry,” says Hakan Abrak.
As in the world of cinema, the British secret agent has a long history in gaming contexts, including a game from the early 1980s to eight-bit consoles. Several companies have taken turns owning the license. Rare’s “Goldeneye 007” for the Nintendo 64 from 1997 generally stands out as the most successful, while most other attempts have quickly fallen into oblivion.
