The Uppsala region has increased the number of testing periods for covid-19 in recent weeks.
But they are still not enough.

Last week, around 740 adults and 60 children were tested every day for the ongoing covid-19 infection in the Uppsala region. But there were more people who wanted to know if they carried the virus.
– The sampling staff do their best and already work overtime to have time to test as many as possible, says Fredrik Settergren, Business Area Manager for Close care and health, in a press release.
– But in principle we would need to double the squad with the pressure we have now.
Asymptomatic book in
The demand has increased among healthcare professionals and other adults in recent times. But not only people with symptoms have been registered.
Some workplaces and schools have urged everyone to get tested, regardless of whether they have had symptoms or not, after cases have been found in the business. They shouldn’t do that.
– Only those who have symptoms that point to covid-19 should come and get tested. It is only in special cases that asymptomatic symptoms can be tested, for example if a cluster infection is investigated, but then done according to a doctor’s prescription, says Settergren.
The sampling unit reviews how it can streamline reservation routines and expand capacity.
– It may be a temporary hump and it calms down a bit in the semester. But we must be prepared for it to last a long time, says Settergren.
