This weekend is the time to choose an umbrella and waterproof outerwear.
Both wet snow and rain cut through the country, but there is little chance that the sun will shine.
At the same time, Class 2 warns SMHI about flooding.
The first day of 2021 started with cloudy weather and rain in several places. There is no sun as far as the eye can see; instead, class 2 warns SMHI of flooding due to high water flows, especially in western parts.
This applies to the areas of Värmland and parts of Västra Götaland.
– The flows are so high. So far, the warnings remain for a while. Flows in these areas are increasing and are expected to remain until week 1 as seen now, says Sara-Sofia Asp, head of SMHI’s hydrological forecasting service.
Wet and rainy
It will be cloudy in most of the country, especially in the south. During Friday and Saturday, both rain and snow arrive at their places.
– In parts of Götaland and Svealand, it can rain, especially on cold roads. Local ice floes can occur, says Alexandra Ohlsson, a meteorologist at SMHI.

The umbrella can be useful.
But a few more caveats, SMHI won’t be out for now.
For those who are going to hit the road, it is important to be careful as there is a risk of slipping.
– If you live in areas where there is precipitation in the form of rain or wet snow, you have to think about it. It’s a local ice rink we’re talking about, now that we’re in the winter months then you should think about it and take it a bit carefully, says Alexandra Ohlsson.
Possibility of sun
But it won’t be completely gray and cloudy all weekend. By Saturday it clears up.
– It becomes clearer about South Norrland, so it is not known how many cleared areas we will overcome Svealand, says Alexandra Ohlsson.
High blood pressure increases on Sunday.
In some places there is the possibility of the sun looking ahead. Especially in Värmland and Dalarna.
– It still seems like Sunday is a day where you have a chance to see a pale January sun. Even in the south of the country, says Alexandra Ohlsson.
